The deceased, believed to be a well-known figure in the city, was often seen around the Castries waterfront, frequently sleeping in public spaces and asking passers-by for spare change. His presence had become familiar to many in the capital.
Abraham Auguste, a frequenter of Castries who had regular interactions with the deceased, recalled one of his last encounters. “He always be lying down by the seaside. I always saw him lying down there. The last time I passed, he tell me, give him bus money to go home because he not feeling well. He tell me he was in the hospital. So I don't know what happened to him now. I was just surprised to see him dead under the bridge.”
Reports suggest that Mister Calcar may have collapsed or fallen beneath the bridge, but the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. “They tell me Carlcar die by the bridge. So he slipped and maybe he knocked his head off. I don't know what,” Auguste added.
Known for his transient lifestyle, Mister Calcar was said to have often slept in random public locations. “When he's getting drunk, he's tight. He's sleeping in any place, any place. He lie down any place and sleep.”
Police are currently awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the nearest police station.
