aint Lucia has officially become the first nation to launch a dedicated carnival anthem, marking a groundbreaking moment in the island’s cultural and musical journey.

Titled ‘Nothing Sweeter Than That’, the anthem was unveiled on July 1 at the headquarters of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) and is now available globally on all major streaming platforms.

The featured artists: Shemmy J, Ezra, Umpa, Sedale, Nerdy, and Arthur Allain, also represented Saint Lucia at the Miami Carnival Parade, offering international audiences a taste of the island’s infectious carnival culture.

The video, as of July 1, premiered on Julian’s Promos, the world’s largest Soca platform on YouTube, with over 1.3 million subscribers, giving Saint Lucia’s Carnival massive international exposure.

The song, produced by local music creator Elmo, showcases the vibrant talent of Saint Lucian musicians and reflects the energy and pride of Lucian Carnival.

Tamara Gibson, Chair of the Carnival Planning and Management Committee, celebrated the achievement, describing it as a first-of-its-kind initiative that places Saint Lucia at the forefront of regional carnival innovation.

Every other island is watching everything that we do. I have never seen a carnival anthem for any other island. So we’re the hosts. I want to congratulate everyone involved. It’s a huge milestone, a huge achievement, and it’s ours. Let’s own it,” she said.

Dexter Percil, Head of Global Marketing at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the importance of supporting the full creative ecosystem behind carnival.

Carnival for us this year is about more than numbers. Year after year we’ve seen growth, but we also want to ensure the support is given not just to the artists but to producers, sound engineers, costume designers, bands and private event promoters. We want the world to see a product that is of international standard and one we can be proud to export.”

Music producer Elmo shared insight into the anthem’s creative journey, which involved deep cultural exploration and fusion of musical styles.

I went to Dennery last year and sat down with the young guys playing percussion. I wanted to know where the sound really came from,” he said. “I brought my own production style and fused it with theirs to create something that stands out something we could use for years to come. Because in Saint Lucia, we work hard, and we deliver an amazing product.

The Lucian Carnival Anthem is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms.
