Senator Dr. Allison Jean is asserting her professional integrity as she is instituting legal proceedings against United Workers Party (UWP) candidate, Guy Joseph, over what she describes as baseless accusations of corruption during her tenure in public office.
Speaking on the sidelines of this week’s sitting of the Senate, Senator Jean disclosed that she has issued a formal written ultimatum through her legal representatives, giving Joseph ten days to retract his statements and issue a public apology. Failure to comply, she warned, will result in legal action.
“He is alleging that I was involved in corrupt acts while in public office. This is absolutely not true. We are waiting for the ten days to elapse. But make no mistake, I will take him all the way to clear my name.”
Senator Jean also refuted Joseph’s references to the Lindquist Report, an audit linked to government corruption investigations, stating unequivocally that her name does not appear anywhere in the document.
“I have a copy of the Lindquist Report, and my name is not mentioned in that report on one line,” she said.
She used the opportunity to question Guy Joseph’s credibility and fitness for public office, pointing to what she characterised as a history of misinformation and public mistrust. Jean recalled Joseph’s own words during the 2021 general election campaign when he stated that if the St. Jude Hospital was not completed under his watch, he should be voted out; a promise she says the electorate remembered at the ballot box.
As the next election cycle looms, Senator Jean suggested that Joseph's political future remains uncertain. “I can assure him that this election coming, he will not win.”
