Tuesday, Aug 26

"T

he fund is a direct investment in our young people,” declared Prime Minister Philip J Pierre on Monday.

Prime Minister Pierre, on Monday, announced the establishment of the Creative Economy Grant Fund, a new initiative designed to provide direct support to Saint Lucia’s creative sector.

The programme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries, will complement the Youth Economy Agency by offering financial assistance to young creatives seeking to transform their skills and hobbies into viable businesses.

Prime Minister Pierre said, noting that it would be open to individuals aged 16 and above, as well as groups and micro enterprises across all creative fields.

These include music, film, dance, theatre, craft, design, fashion, and literary arts.

Grants of up to EC$5,000 will be available for training, marketing, or launching new products, while up to EC$10,000 will be provided for production, equipment, and promotion.

Applications are to be submitted to the Ministry of Creative Industries via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., with the deadline set for October 3rd.

Pierre explained that the application process would be straightforward, allowing aspiring and established creatives alike to access support.

Supposing there is a group in Canaries that wants to buy uniforms for its dancers, they can apply. Or if a young artist wants to produce a music video, he can apply,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that even sporting initiatives could benefit from the scheme, which represents a government investment of $50,000 into the sector.

This is about helping people with talent access the resources they need, whether they are already involved in the creative industries or aspiring to be,” he said.

The government expects the fund to boost entrepreneurship, create opportunities, and strengthen Saint Lucia’s cultural industries while empowering youth to transform their creativity into sustainable economic ventures.
