rime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre has reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), announcing major progress in the nationwide distribution of bulletproof vests for officers, a milestone that touts his administration’s focus on safety, security, and accountability.

Speaking on the government’s investment in national security, Prime Minister Pierre emphasized that every officer will now be equipped with their own protective vest, effectively ending the outdated and unsafe practice of sharing gear.

“My government remains committed to supporting the brave men and women of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force,” Prime Minister Pierre stated. “We are strengthening their capacity to serve, protect, and uphold the law through continuous investments in modern tools, vehicles, equipment, and training.”

He noted that these investments reflect his administration’s dedication to creating safer communities, enhancing national security, and rebuilding public trust.

“Let us all continue to create a safer, more secure Saint Lucia for our citizens and all who visit our beautiful island,” he added.

The Prime Minister confirmed that following the signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement in September 2025 with the Police Welfare Association (PWA), the government committed to delivering the bulletproof vests within six months, a pledge that is now being fulfilled.

To date, the government has invested $3.1 million in the purchase of ballistic vests and has commenced the distribution and proper fitting of vests for officers across the island.

While global supply chain delays temporarily affected the final shipment, Prime Minister Pierre confirmed that the remaining vests are now en route to Saint Lucia.

“This government recognizes that our officers deserve protection as they serve and protect our citizens,” the Prime Minister said. “Under this administration, that promise is being fulfilled.”

Under the Philip J. Pierre administration, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has received unprecedented support, a significant step forward in equipping officers with modern resources and ensuring they are adequately protected as they confront the challenges of law enforcement.

Prime Minister Pierre reaffirmed that this latest investment is part of a broader, ongoing effort to modernize the police force and strengthen its operational capacity through new vehicles, improved infrastructure, and continuous professional development.

The government’s message remains clear, those who serve on the front lines will be supported, protected, and empowered to uphold the law with confidence and integrity.
