T

hough not yet elected to office, Shanda Lee Harracksingh is already making her presence felt in Micoud South, championing projects that promise real change for rural residents.

Among her top priorities is the long-awaited reconstruction of the Mahaut Bridge, a vital link destroyed more than a decade ago. Its loss has made life difficult for the area’s farmers, many of whom were forced to abandon their plots due to the isolation and inaccessibility that followed.

“The rehabilitation of the Mahaut Bridge goes beyond mere infrastructure,” Harracksingh said during a recent site visit. “It represents hope and renewal for our farmers. This project will revitalize our Blanchard farming community and reconnect residents who have been cut off for years.”

Harracksingh, who was accompanied by former Micoud North MP Jeremiah Norbert, expressed excitement about the project’s potential to breathe new life into the agricultural sector. “Standing on this site with my brother Jeremiah, we both saw the future, one where our farmers can once again traverse their lands with ease and pride,” she shared.

For many Micoud South farmers, the bridge’s reconstruction is more than a convenience, it’s a lifeline that restores access, productivity, and dignity to their daily work.

As plans advance, residents are expressing optimism that this long-overdue project will not only reconnect farmlands but also reignite economic activity and community spirit in the area.
