Two months in, Project Manager Savvy Gajadhar confirms that the project is already 50% complete, with heavy earthworks, road widening, and slope stabilization well underway.
From slicing through dangerous bends to constructing towering retaining walls, the team’s mission has been clear: to build not just a road, but a stronger, safer, smarter connection between communities.
“We’ve widened the road to comfortably carry two lanes, reinforced the embankments, and improved drainage along the stretch,” Gajadhar explained. “Even the sharpest bends have now been straightened out to make the route safer and more efficient.”
But the Corinth–Monchy project isn’t only about pavement and progress, it’s about planning smarter to build better. In a groundbreaking move for infrastructure coordination, CIE Ltd. and WASCO are executing simultaneous works to prevent future disruptions. This means that water mains, service connections, and roadworks are being synchronized, a first for projects of this scale in the north.
The next phase will move from heavy construction to fine craftsmanship: installing concrete drains, shaping verges, and applying the final asphalt overlay. These final touches will not only smooth the surface but also seal the project’s legacy as a model of modern engineering, efficiency, and collaboration.
Once completed, the Corinth–Monchy corridor will stand as more than a new road, it will be a milestone of progress, built to last and designed to connect Saint Lucians safely, seamlessly, and sustainably.
