Latchoo, a Trinidad and Tobago national and former Dominica head coach, takes charge of Saint Lucia ahead of the country's 2026-27 Nations League campaign.

He replaces Stern John, who led the national team from 2022 to 2026.

Latchoo arrives with experience in senior international football, youth development and coaching education. He previously coached Dominica and has worked as a Concacaf coaching instructor and as Head of Coach Education and Youth Football Director with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association.

His first assignment will come quickly. Saint Lucia faces Barbados on Friday, September 25 at 8 p.m. at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

The Piton Boyz are competing in League B, Group B, alongside Barbados, Bermuda and Guadeloupe. Bermuda and Guadeloupe will also meet at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground earlier on Friday.

Saint Lucia will then face Bermuda at home on September 28 before meeting Guadeloupe twice in October.

Latchoo therefore has little time to settle into his new role before the battle for points begins.

The new coach inherits a national programme that has made progress in recent years but now faces another test of its ability to compete consistently at the regional level.

Beyond immediate results, Latchoo's background in youth development and coach education could also become important as the Saint Lucia Football Association seeks to strengthen the pathway between domestic football, youth national teams and the senior Piton Boyz.

For now, however, the immediate focus is Friday night.

With home advantage and a new coach beginning his tenure, the opening fixture against Barbados provides Saint Lucia with an early opportunity to establish momentum in its Nations League campaign.
