astries, August 08, 2024 - Saint Lucia Moves is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Le Club Volleyball, aiming to bring the exciting sport of volleyball to communities throughout the island.

This collaboration offers Saint Lucians the opportunity to participate in a dynamic sporting discipline while benefiting from a variety of health related activities designed to enhance overall well-being.

The initiative will feature a series of indoor and beach volleyball tournaments, catering to both competitive and recreational players. These tournaments will be held in four strategically selected communities across Saint Lucia, ensuring that the advantages of this engaging sport are accessible to a broad audience. The locations include Pigeon Point, Micoud, Dennery and La Clery.

Tyna Eudoxie, an executive member of Le Club Volleyball, shared the motivation behind this initiative. “The idea kind of came about because we know that volleyball has been concentrated in the north of the island for a long while. We wanted to give the communities around the island more exposure to sport. We wanted to highlight the importance of sports and physical activities when it comes to having good health. We are going to be starting at Pigeon Point, Micoud, Dennery and La Clery to showcase our talent.”

Alongside the tournaments, there will be health education sessions, wellness workshops, and interactive booths offering practical tips and resources for maintaining physical and mental well-being. This holistic approach aims to foster active and sustainable lifestyles among Saint Lucians, addressing non-communicable diseases.

“Given that life is dynamic, and volleyball is one of the most dynamic sports, this movement will show how active and sustainable lifestyles can help folks combat non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and even cancer. So other entities must promote this type of lifestyle,” remarked Saint Lucia Moves Committee Member, Selva Wilson.

This partnership between Saint. Lucia Moves and Le Club Volleyball underscore the importance of community driven initiatives in promoting health and wellness.

From August 10, 2024, participants and spectators can look forward to a vibrant schedule of events that not only showcase the excitement and skill of volleyball but also emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
