Pelius Confident in Her Track Record as Police Commissioner

"I

have worked to ensure the holistic well-being of the men and women of the organisation,” explained former Police Commissioner, Crusita Descartes-Pelius

Descartes-Pelius, during a recently held police press conference, highlighted what she described as “attacks” against her and key members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force on social media.

Pelius says social media users behind pseudo-profiles have sought to undermine her leadership and integrity.

When pressed by reporters for her lack of comment on attacks to her DCP, Ronald Phillip by pseudo profiles and even the Opposition United Workers Party, COP Pelius shot back declaring that “it was not the same”.

Pelius went on to add that the facts will speak for themselves.

I've encouraged the men and women under my watch to provide a service professionally, with excellence and with integrity. The numbers you have seen here today don't lie - increases in crime overall and general increases in detection rates. That was my mandate and history will prove that I've achieved it.”

The now former Commissioner adds that bad actors who cannot tarnish her professional reputation have tried to find personal bases upon which to taint her.

These attacks are baseless, however, disgusting. And since it is impossible to attack character and work efforts, anonymous posters try to make this personal. Let me assure you that this will not work,” she said.

Pelius’ contract of employment expired on August 31st, 2024 and her replacement as top cop has yet to be announced.
