Mathieu says the Unit has reported a string of major successes following a series of island-wide operations aimed at disrupting organised crime and enhancing public safety.
In Mon Repos, police arrested Kyle DeVante Serieux after executing a search at his residence. According to Mathieu, “Officers discovered one black Colt .357 revolver, two rounds of .357 Magnum ammunition, and a quantity of cannabis raisin totalling approximately 52 grams.”
He was taken to the Vieux Fort Police Station and formally charged. “He later appeared before the 2nd District Court where he was granted bail in the sum of EC $22,000 dollars either in cash or through a suitable surety,” Mathieu reported.
Another major interception took place at Port Vieux Fort: “Inside a large cardboard box filled with assorted food and household items…further inspection revealed that five food containers had been tampered with. Hidden within were 25 vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing the substance suspected to be cannabis resin.”
Inspector Mathieu reiterated that these results are part of an ongoing strategy by the RSLPF to combat transnational criminal activity.
