icole "Nicki" David was a trailblazer, a powerhouse, and a beloved icon in Saint Lucian Carnival. Known as "Saint Lucia’s Queen of Soca," she made history in 2005 as the first—and only—woman to win the Road March title with her electrifying anthem “Bounce,” also affectionately known as “Queen of the Jungle” .

‌Her career spanned decades, beginning with the band DN5 and later as the lead vocalist of Spectacle. Nicki's discography includes hits like “Mate,” “Jammette,” “Road Block,” and “Wukking up is we Culture,” each embodying the vibrant spirit of Carnival.

Beyond the stage, Nicki was a cherished community figure, known for her warmth and generosity. She brought joy to many through her karaoke events and was a familiar face at community gatherings, always ready to uplift others with her voice and spirit .

In 2024, Nicki made a poignant return to the Soca stage, collaborating with Kisha Kay and Claudette Peters on the Carnival anthem “It’s Carnival,” marking her final national performance .

Nicki's legacy is etched into the fabric of Lucian Carnival. Her passion, resilience, and trailblazing contributions continue to inspire and resonate within the community.
