This adjustment is attributed to shifts in international oil prices and the government's application of the modified market pass-through petroleum pricing mechanism.
This mechanism considers international oil price fluctuations and adjusts domestic prices accordingly. This approach ensures that fuel prices remain reflective of global market trends, providing a fair balance between consumers and producers.
While the retail prices of Gasoline, Diesel, Kerosene, the LPG 20 lb, and 22 lb cylinders remain unaffected, the price of the LPG 100 lb Cylinder has seen an increase.
The price per 100 lb Cylinder, which holds approximately 45.36 kg of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), has risen from its previous value of $264.58 to a new price of $284.98 per cylinder.
The unchanged prices of other petroleum products are as follows:
- Gasoline: $3.63 per litre or $16.50 per gallon.
- Diesel: $3.52 per litre or $16.00 per gallon.
- Kerosene: $2.16 per litre or $9.84 per gallon.
- 20 Pound Cylinder (9.07 kg): $39.30 per cylinder.
- 22 Pound Cylinder (9.98 kg): $43.22 per cylinder.
It is worth noting that the 20 lb and 22 lb cylinders are being subsidized by the government, with prices set at $17.70 and $19.47 per cylinder, respectively.
The government has also indicated that the next adjustment in retail fuel prices is scheduled for Monday, September 18, 2023.
