Minimum & Liveable Wage Report Prepared

embers of the public are requesting a minimum wage be legislated by the government to combat the rising cost of goods and services.

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre says he’s pleased to announce a report made by the Minimum & Liveable Wage Commission is currently on his desk, and subject to stakeholder consultation, the report will be approved.

 “I have a document on my desk for the minimum liveable wage, and I hope to announce it soon. This is very important for the people of Saint Lucia,” Prime Minister Pierre announced during the press briefing on August 28, 2023.

 Pierre also stressed the productivity of workers in the workplace. He urges Saint Lucians to be efficient and effective workers.  “Again, we have to improve our productive capacity. People of Saint Lucia, we need to improve our productiveness.”

 According to the prime Minister, employers engaged in the stakeholder discussions were working alongside the government to achieve the minimum liveable wage.
