From spreading misinformation to orchestrating reckless political stunts, it has become increasingly clear that Mr. Chastanet will stop at nothing to sabotage the work of the Government, even if it means jeopardizing public safety, undermining national projects, and violating the sanctity of restricted government sites.
This kind of behaviour must not be taken lightly.
It is a matter of national security and public interest that greater security measures be implemented immediately at all ongoing government project sites to safeguard the work being done on behalf of the people of Saint Lucia. These are not political playgrounds. These are critical development zones funded by taxpayers, intended to serve the needs of current and future generations.
We therefore call on the Government to bolster security at the following key sites:
1. St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Site – Vieux Fort
2. Hewanorra International Airport Redevelopment Project – Vieux Fort
3. Soufrière Hospital Rehabilitation Project – Soufrière
4. Dennery Polyclinic Project – Dennery
5. Bananes Bay Housing Redevelopment Project – Castries South
6. Choc Bridge Construction Site – Gros Islet Highway
7. Northern Divisional Police Headquarters – Gros Islet
8. Road Rehabilitation Works across Micoud, Anse La Raye, and Babonneau
9. Rock Hall Housing Project
10. National Acquatic Centre
11. West Coast Sub Station
12. Halls of Justice
The presence of unauthorized individuals at these sites not only poses a serious safety hazard but opens the door to sabotage, misinformation, and the political weaponization of development projects. Mr. Chastanet’s actions set a dangerous precedent that must be nipped in the bud.
The Government must consider a combination of the following immediate measures:
• 24-hour security personnel at sensitive sites
• Surveillance camera installation
• Mandatory ID checks and access control
• Temporary restrictions on non-essential visitors during active construction
• Legal consequences for trespassers and disruptors
This is not about politics — it is about protecting progress.
It is ironic that Mr. Chastanet, whose government failed to deliver on most of these critical projects, now seeks to undermine them simply because he cannot take credit for their success. But his desperation cannot be allowed to derail the national agenda.
The Saint Lucia Labour Party Administration has made tremendous strides in rebuilding confidence, reviving critical infrastructure, and restoring public trust. Every hospital, clinic, school, and police station under construction today is a testament to that commitment. Saint Lucians will not stand by and allow sabotage to be disguised as scrutiny.
The time has come to take a firm stand — not just against lies and misinformation, but against reckless political behaviour that threatens national development. Secure the sites. Protect the work. And let progress continue.
