The polls, which saw a 44% voter turnout, approximately 6.27 million voters, ended with the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) securing 285 of 335 mayoralties, or 85% of the total.
Venezuelan Ambassador to Saint Lucia, Leiff Escalona, described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the country’s democratic system.
“The July 2025 municipal elections clearly reaffirmed the institutional legitimacy of the Venezuelan democratic system and marked a strategic victory for the PSUV, while also signaling the rise of a new opposition within the existing legal framework,” she said.
She continued: “This electoral process sends a powerful message to the world about the participatory and leading democracy of the Venezuelan people.”
CCC Councillor Yasmine Steele, reflecting on her experience as an observer, said the process appeared transparent and well-regulated.
“I got the feeling that the elections were free and fair because there were many steps put in place to ensure that,” she explained. “The physical ballot was printed to balance off with the automated results, and when you voted, you had to sign to confirm, have your finger placed in ink, and present your fingerprint as well.”
Steele noted the atmosphere following the polls reflected the decisive victory for the governing side.
The CCC delegation’s participation formed part of a wider international observation effort aimed at assessing and validating the integrity of Venezuela’s electoral process.
