ember of Parliament for Vieux-Fort North, Moses “Musa” Jn. Baptiste, has pushed back against claims of poor representation in the constituency, pointing to several ongoing upgrades at local sports facilities.

His comments come after United Workers Party (UWP) candidate Callixte ‘Kakal’ Xavier, who will challenge Jn. Baptiste in the next general election, shared a social media post on Monday showcasing land-clearing works in the constituency. Xavier suggested that more needed to be done for youth and community development in the area.

Jn. Baptiste, however, defended his track record.

When it comes to playing fields and playing facilities in Vieux-Fort North, the Saint Lucia Labour Party is proud, and we will continue to develop these facilities,” he said, accusing the UWP of abandoning projects whenever it comes to office.

He highlighted the Grace Playing Field as a key example, describing it as among the best playing surfaces anywhere in the country.

There are many videos of the Grace Primary School having wonderful sports meets at the Grace Plain Field. The Grace Playing Field has one of the best plain surfaces anywhere in Saint Lucia.

The MP further pointed to progress at the Vigier Playing Field, which he said had been neglected under the UWP.

Every time they come to office, they stop programs that the St. Lucia Labour Party always establishes, such as the NICE program to clean and maintain playing fields,” Jn. Baptiste argued.

Since returning to government, we have removed boulders at Vigier, and the Vigier Primary School has been able to host its sports there.”
