he Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) has entered into a new partnership with local tech company Orbtronics, aimed at advancing innovation, entrepreneurship, and education. The collaboration, formalized on Thursday, is being hailed as a timely move as the college continues diversifying its academic programs to prepare students for a technology-driven future.

The initiative connects SALCC students with Orbtronics’ cutting-edge projects and support systems, giving them opportunities to transform ideas into reality.

Tracy Pilgrim-George, Acting Director of Internationalisation and Advancement at SALCC, said the energy and urgency of the Orbtronics team resonated with the college’s mission.

From the very first conversation with the young men from Orbtronics, what struck us at the college most was obviously their energy. They didn’t just sit on the idea about this partnership waiting for the perfect time. They moved with urgency, reminding us of that old saying: strike while the iron is hot. Or in today’s language; if you have the idea, make the move,” she explained.

Orbtronics, founded by SALCC alumni Keeghan Patrick and Dylan Paul, has quickly established itself as a leader in the local tech ecosystem. The co-founders emphasised their vision of empowering Saint Lucian youth to drive global innovation.

Patrick described the partnership as a step toward reshaping the island’s role in technology:

Orbtronics promotes technology, innovation, and fosters entrepreneurial development with a broad view of strengthening our national technology ecosystem. We see a future where Saint Lucia is where the world’s next greatest technologies come from. And we really believe the starting point is with our students, with our young people interested in breaking the systems that were built before us and creating new ones.

Paul, meanwhile, highlighted upcoming initiatives such as incubator and accelerator programs designed to help students transform business ideas into market-ready ventures.

We’re definitely excited for our incubator and accelerator programs for those at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College who want to be entrepreneurial and get their ideas from paper to reality. We see it as blazing a new pathway for students at the college,” he said.

The Board of Governors of SALCC welcomed the partnership, noting that it reflects the institution’s commitment to equipping students with the skills and opportunities necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.
