ormer Prime Minister and Vieux Fort South MP Dr. Kenny Anthony, along with Laborie-Augier MP Alva Baptiste and other Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) candidates, urged constituents on Wednesday, October 8, to reject divisive tactics and engage constructively amidst the current political climate.

Speaking at the party's Annual General Meeting in Laborie and Augier, Alva Baptiste emphasized restraint and faith in the political process.

“Do not drag the Jn. Pierre family into any pappyshow politics. Yes, let them talk. Because I have control over what I say, not what they say. And if the time comes where I must respond to propaganda, I will do it in the way that my God wants me to do it,” he said.

Baptiste also highlighted his commitment to continued development, stating, “I am going for the fifth term and five forward with Alva for continued progress in our constituency and country.”

Former Prime Minister Kenny Anthony focused on criticizing the Opposition's approach, describing their style as punitive.

“The only thing, the only thing that a UWP knows how to do is to punish. They do it with impunity. It’s second nature to their politics. It is in their DNA. It is part of their being, part of their psyche,” he said.

Anthony cited past election tactics, noting, “They will remind you that in an election campaign when Joe Emanuel was a candidate for the UWP, the UWP in a bid to fool the people put poles in the constituency. Ask the people of Vieux Fort North, and when they lost, they took all the poles back.”

The SLP leaders called on voters to prioritize informed decision-making and constructive engagement, emphasizing progress over confrontation.
