Henry described Alfred as a “history-maker and true daughter of our soil,” whose performance on the world stage has inspired unity, pride, and renewed belief among Saint Lucians at home and abroad.
“What a moment of pride, what a moment of joy, what a moment of national celebration, we are not simply welcoming home an athlete, we are honoring a trailblazer, a history-maker, and a true daughter of our soil, Julien Alfred.”
Henry commended Alfred’s determination and grace under pressure, noting that her success embodies the very spirit of Saint Lucia.
“Julien, you have competed with fire in your heart and carried the flag of Saint Lucia with honor and determination,” Henry said. “From the tracks of Tokyo to the hearts of every Saint Lucian here and across the diaspora, you have demonstrated what it means to dream boldly and to deliver with courage.”
Describing Alfred’s Olympic bronze medal as “more than an achievement,” Henry said it stands as “a symbol of resilience, hope, and the unshakable spirit of our people.”
On behalf of the SLAA, Henry expressed deep gratitude to Alfred for inspiring the next generation of athletes.
“Thank you, Julien, for inspiring every young boy and girl who dares to lace up their shoes and believe,” she said. “You have reminded us that no dream is too distant, and no finish line beyond reach.”
The SLAA President called on Saint Lucians to continue honoring Alfred’s legacy and to celebrate her as an enduring symbol of excellence and perseverance.
“So, Saint Lucia, let us raise our voices, clap our hands, and show the world how we welcome our champion. Julien Alfred, you are our pride, our star, and our lasting inspiration. Welcome home, and may your time here be restful, joyful, and filled with love.”
