The new facilities provide safe, comfortable, and creative spaces for both learning and play.
Addressing students, Prime Minister and Castries East MP Philip J. Pierre praised the initiative spearheaded by the school’s leadership.
“Your principal sent me a proposal, really a proposal that could pass any master’s degree. That was costing the benefits that would accrue to the students and the school. She prepared a document, a document that could be looked at, could be analyzed, and we got some of it. And that is good,” he said.
He encouraged students to embrace the opportunities the new facilities present.
“We want to give you the same opportunity as any child everywhere in Saint Lucia. You have to get the same opportunity, and in that same opportunity, you can do just as well as them or even better than them. So you must not let anybody believe that you are a lesser person because of where you live or because of where you come from. You are a person. You must maintain and you must show them that if you are disciplined and if you are committed, you can be anything,” Pierre added.
H.E. Nicole Su, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Saint Lucia, reaffirmed Taiwan’s ongoing support for Saint Lucia’s education sector.
“Every year, many Saint Lucia students go to Taiwan to study in Taiwan, apply for the scholarship and study in Taiwan. And there they can study many different subjects, experience new culture and also learn the Mandarin language, which is the most spoken language in the world. There are many opportunities for you to explore and you will perhaps one day become also an ambassador to represent Saint Lucia,” she said.
The new Lunch Pavilion and Playhouse are expected to enhance both the educational and recreational experiences of students, reinforcing the commitment of both governments to invest in Saint Lucia’s youth.
