““If you read the judgment, the judge has already signaled a number of wrongs in which the injunction was not granted. A major observation by her or statement by her is that a lot of the evidence that was provided was speculative. He was saying things that happened in other countries and assuming and claiming that they were also happening in Saint Lucia. He would have to come and really prove it. We've always said those matters and Martinez matters had nothing to do with Saint Lucia,” Dr. Hilaire told the media.
Dr. Hilaire emphasized that the injunction prevented Saint Lucia from accessing significant development funding that could have already transformed communities across the island.
“Just imagine if the infrastructure option we signed had actually begun. We are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars to repair roads, bridges, sporting and cultural facilities. That is what he stopped,” Hilaire stressed. “Not the government, he stopped it.”
This ruling follows a recent decision by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), which also rejected a case brought by Chastanet involving the importation of a vehicle. In both matters, the Opposition Leader’s claims failed to meet legal standards, reinforcing growing public perception that he is prioritizing personal vendettas over national progress.
With yet another court ruling going against him, Chastanet’s repeated legal attacks have raised questions about his motives, and his continued fixation specifically on Dr. Hilaire.
