Norbert, seeking a second term as MP for Micoud North, thanked residents of Mon Repos for their turnout and praised Minister for Education Shawn Edward who was a guest speaker, for his support at the community meeting.
Norbert said he wanted to speak directly to the long-standing loyalty of the people of Mon Repos, loyalty he believes was taken advantage of for years.
“In the past I know it felt like no one else was around, as you endured leadership that took your loyalty for granted. They believed they could use you for your votes to form government without providing you with quality representation that listens and responds to your concerns.”
He reminded constituents that despite repeatedly electing the previous leadership, Mon Repos residents were left with little to show for it.
“You kept re-electing them out of loyalty. Do you remember what you got for it? I know you don’t,” he said.
He warned that the same style of leadership he says neglected Mon Repos in the past is now attempting a make a return.
“Today that leadership has reappeared, with different faces,” he said. “The only wrong they want to right is believing that you should have elected them no matter what happens.”
He accused the opposition of bringing “no plans and an uncaring attitude” back into the political space, contrasting it with what he described as the government’s record of consistent delivery.
Norbert emphasized that he has remained engaged with the community, listening and responding to concerns while pushing development across several sectors.
“I have never left your side,” he said. “Look around at our progress, in infrastructure, social support, youth and sports, among other areas. That is leadership that cares.”
He pledged to continue serving residents with the same commitment, saying his love for the community is reflected in the government’s track record.
As Election Day approaches, Norbert urged constituents to vote for continued development.
“On Election Day, let us move forward with more progress by putting the X by the Star,” he said, referencing the symbol for the Saint Lucia Labour Party. “We are not going back, you deserve better than what the opposition is and has offered. love you, and I will continue to show it,” Norbert told supporters.
