Following a stakeholder update meeting held at the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) boardroom, Lance Arnold, CEO of St. Lucia Cruise Port, provided details on the project's current progress and future plans

The marine components of the redevelopment project have been successfully completed A primary focus of the work involved the total reconstruction of the town's L-shaped jetty.

Initial plans to refurbish the existing structure were abandoned after damage from Hurricane Beryl rendered it unsalvageable, requiring a complete rebuild.

The newly constructed jetty is longer than its predecessor and extends further out into deeper water. This design change allows vessels to utilize both sides of the jetty for passenger drop-offs and pick-ups.

A brand-new tender jetty has also been installed in the Barons Drive area, introducing brand-new capacity for handling vessel traffic.

With marine work complete, focus has shifted to landside operations. To accommodate the high-end cruise vessels expected this season, temporary measures will be in place while full construction continues: 

• Cruise Season Launch: Early visitors arriving by sea will utilize the existing gate house, adjoining jetty, and marshalling area.
• Public Amenities: Ongoing construction will deliver a central boardwalk connecting the main jetty near the gas station down to the local amphitheater.
• New Facilities: Planned additions include public washrooms, food and beverage units, and new retail spaces.

 Project leaders acknowledged that construction would overlap with the active cruise season, but emphasized that efforts are being made to minimize disruptions for residents, visitors, and local vendors. The project is being spearheaded by the St. Lucia Cruise Port in collaboration with the Government of St. Lucia and the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation.
