The 64-goal victory provided a major boost for the Saint Lucian squad as it continues its campaign to secure qualification for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Australia.
The result followed two difficult opening encounters for Saint Lucia, including a narrow 42–40 defeat to host nation Barbados on Tuesday and a 34–25 loss to Canada on Monday.
Wednesday’s commanding victory demonstrated the team’s attacking ability and defensive strength, with Saint Lucia establishing a significant advantage over its opponents.
The Americas qualifying tournament brings together teams competing for two available places at the 2027 World Cup.
For Saint Lucia, the competition provides an opportunity to test its players against regional opponents while gaining valuable international experience.
The team’s participation also places renewed attention on the development of women’s sport in Saint Lucia, particularly the importance of sustained investment in coaching, training facilities, competitive opportunities and athlete development.
Netball remains an important sport within Saint Lucia’s schools and communities, providing opportunities for young women to develop teamwork, discipline and leadership skills.
Strong performances at the international level can also inspire younger players and encourage greater participation in organised sport.
Saint Lucia is scheduled to face Grenada on Friday, October 23, at 8:00 p.m. Saint Lucia time, as the qualifying tournament continues.
With two World Cup places available, the national team will be seeking to build on Wednesday’s victory and strengthen its position in the competition.
The Americas qualifying tournament concludes on October 26.
