SLNCA Names Players for Windward Island Games

he St. Lucia National Cricket Association’s selection panel has named 14 players and 4 reserves for the upcoming Windward Islands Cricket Board Super 50 tournament to be held from September 25th to October 2nd in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The team will be captained by former West Indies U 19 opener Kimani Melius and his deputy will be another former West Indies U 19 captain Akeem Auguste. This year sees the return of the experienced campaigner Johnson Charles to the team, along with Kings teammates Shadrack Descartes and Mckenny Clarke. Veteran Windwards player Larry Edward, will join the team in St. Vincent. Stephen Naitram, and Sabinus Emmanuel return and will be joined by new comer Vernillius Gabriel in the batting line up.

Exciting young players Tarrique Edward, Jaden Elibox, and Keon Gaston return this year after making their senior debuts last year. Left handed top order batter Johnell Eugene and pace bowler Tyrel Chicot completes the list and are set to debut for the Senior National Team. The reserves are Noel Leo, Murgaran Shoulette, Dornan Edward and Dillon John. Jason Simon, Tonius Simon and Sanjay Hayle miss out on this year’s team.

The players will continue training at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground under the watchful eyes of coaches, Garey Mathurin and Donald Albert.

The 14-man squad is set to depart for the tournament 24th September, 2023.
