New Press Secretary Appointed; Promises Open Communication

n a recent appointment, Melissa Paul takes the reins from former Press Secretary Maundy Lewis, who now assumes the role of the Administrative Attaché and Personal Assistant to the Prime Minister.

Paul, stepping into her new role, pledges to establish an open and effective channel of communication between the Prime Minister's Office and the media. She emphasizes her commitment to utilizing her expertise to fulfill her responsibilities effectively.

It is a privilege to serve as the Prime Minister’s voice and to facilitate a new era of communication between the government and the media. As a linguist and former journalist, I understand the power of words, the importance of context and the value of accurate information,” the new Press Secretary announced on Monday, September 25th, 2023. Continuing, she said, “My background has taught me that communication is not just about conveying a message, it’s about building understanding and trust. It’s about forging connections and ensuring the voices of the people are heard.”

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, thanked Ms. Lewis for her contribution to the post and welcomed the incoming Press Secretary. “I want to thank [Maundy Lewis; outgoing Press Secretary]. The job of press secretary is never easy and I’m very pleased with her and what she’s done. I want to introduce [Melissa Paul; incoming Press Secretary]. She officially starts today.”

The Office of the Prime Minister, in a press release, stated that it is committed to fostering a two-way relationship with the media as it recognises the media’s role in protecting democracy.
