ros Islet MP Hon. Kenson Casimir has announced the development plans for his constituency for the near future.

Casimir outlines initiatives ranging from roadworks to youth empowerment, all geared towards making life easier for his constituents.

The first development Casimir announced was that of roadworks. According to him, the rehabilitation of Beasejour’s road network will continue as planned and will be completed by the year-end. “A really comprehensive road network programme has been earmarked for Beausejour. We’ve started on most of the roads; we are expecting about 90% of the roads to be given some form of attention currently, and later on, the further 10%. The ambition is to give Beausejour what they deserve and that’s a proper road network,” he explained.

The MP says although the project has faced difficulty, the work will finish as planned. “The contractor has been faced with some challenges, sometimes with vehicles parked on the side of the road and [other times] with weather patterns, disallowing the flow of work. But the project is ongoing and we are expecting Beausejour, by the end of the year to be, almost complete in terms of the development of the road network,” he said.

The next project discussed by Casimir is public housing and the to-be-constructed rent-to-own condos in Cas en Bas. He explained that the National Housing Corporation will spearhead this initiative. “We are hoping very early next Cas en Bas will see that building go up to give persons of middle and lower income the opportunity to own at least a flat during next year,” he said.

A social programme is also in the works, Casimir said. An employment assistance programme called “Dress to Impress” will be launched in his constituency soon.

We also have a programme that we are going to implement very soon called “Dress to Impress”, where we’re inviting the entire diaspora and individuals from all walks of life to provide the clothing that they may not be interested in using anymore to young persons who have landed an interview but really do not have the means. This includes a shirt, tie, pants, dress, and these sorts of things,” he told the press. This initiative, according to the MP, will provide youth with the necessary business attire to attend interviews and jobs.

The MP says these projects will help improve the quality of life for residents.
