ECCB Outs First-Ever $2 Bank Note

n celebration of  The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank's (ECCB) 40th anniversary, it launched a commemorative polymer EC$2 banknote.

This denomination of the currency is the first of its kind. The EC$2 note showcases a portrait of the legendary Antigua and Barbuda cricketer Sir Vivian Richards, affectionately known as “The Master Blaster.”.

According to the ECCB, “The EC$2 commemorative note marks the first time that a reflective silver ink, a gold iridescent ink, and a holographic blue foil have appeared together on a banknote…It represents an innovation in global currency design and security.”

The banknote will be available at commercial banks throughout the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) from December 6 and can be used to purchase goods and services. The countries that use the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) are St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Lucia.
