CRICKET: In a dazzling display of skill and determination, debutant seamer Matthew Forde stole the spotlight with a magnificent Player-of-the-Match performance, guiding the West Indies to a historic One-Day International (ODI) series success over England on Caribbean soil after 25 years.

The atmosphere at Kensington Oval was electric on a Saturday night as the home side clinched a nail-biting four-wicket victory, setting off jubilation in the stands. Battling against a revised target of 188 from 34 overs under lights in the rain-affected third CG United ODI, West Indies found themselves in a precarious position at 135-6 in the 26th over.

Despite spirited performances from Keacy Carty, who notched up a stroke-filled 50 off 58 balls, and Alick Athanaze, contributing a stylish 45 off 51 balls, the hosts were in danger of defeat. However, the lion-hearted Romario Shepherd showcased his mettle, delivering an unbeaten 41 off 28 balls. In a game-changing partnership, Shepherd and the composed Forde, with an unflustered knock of 13 not out, engineered a crucial 56-run, unbroken seventh-wicket stand.

With the contest hanging in the balance and 33 runs required off the last 24 balls, Shepherd's powerful hitting took center stage. He smashed successive sixes from the first deliveries of the 31st over bowled by pacer Gus Atkinson, amassing an impressive 24 runs and firmly tipping the scales in favor of West Indies. The home side ultimately sealed the victory with 14 balls to spare under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, marking a historic triumph in the ODI series against England.
