ollowing the sexual assault accusations levelled against senior members of the RSLPF, Police Commissioner Cruscita Descartes-Pelius says a sexual harassment policy is near completion.

One senior police officer in particular was named by the Police Welfare Association, which claims it received sexual allegations by female police officers.

Pelius disclosed that the allegations will be dealt with once the proper mechanisms are in place.

This particular sexual harassment issue, we are dealing with it. At the appropriate time, when we have put everything in place to deal with it, I will give [the public] an update,” the Commissioner explained.

Back at the helm of the Force, after being re-appointed Commissioner for a one-year term, Pelius says the sexual harassment policy is around the corner. She says the “holistic” policy will deal with the treatment of both the accusing and accused officers.

This document is expected to provide redress to anyone who may fall victim to such incidents, anyone adversely affected by improper allegations of the like, or anyone who witnesses such cases. The policy will be one which will provide protections, despite sex, gender, religious convictions or any other label which may serve to divide and alienate,” she explained.

Although the Opposition has publicly called for the removal of the accused officer from the Force, without the required evidence, he remains on duty.
