Girard to Focus on Youth Development in Constituency

Wednesday, Jan 10

"W

e are more than the misfortune they say we are” - MP for Anse La Raye/Canaries Hon. Wayne Girard is appealing to the youth in his constituency to rise above the stigma associated with them.

Communities in his constituency have been known to be hotspots for gun violence and gang-related activity. Girard calls on the youth to make use of their skills and talents to make their community and country proud.

We have talent, we have the knowledge, we have enthusiasm, we have the vigour. We are essentially saying to the young people of Anse La Raye/Canaries ‘We believe in you.’” the MP says.

To that end, Girard says work on youth-centred initiatives is continuing in his constituency.

We are also working to complete the NSDC building, which is a building that was commenced under the last administration for the people of Anse La Raye, but for whatever reason, they did not believe it was easy enough, so they stopped the work on it. We have now confirmed that we are going to recommence the work on it so the young people will have a place to go to hone their talents,” he explained.
