icoud North MP Hon. Jeremiah Norbert made an emotional delivery during the sod-turning ceremony for the Mon Repos Cemetary Expansion Project.

The new cemetery was first announced by Norbert last year which formed part of his plans for the constituency as the demand for burial grounds increased.

Hon. Norbert lamented the reluctance of the former MP to provide appropriate and adequate burial grounds.

This new cemetery will represent not just bricks and mortar, but a compassionate response to a growing need, a testament to our collective reverence for the departed, and a glimpse into a future where grief finds solace and respect,” the MP said in his address to the community.

The MP promises a modern cemetery with environmentally friendly features, a chapel and other amenities which will provide convenience for patrons.

Our cemetery will be a tranquil haven, a place where memories are cherished, and the legacy of our loved ones endures through time. Its modern design incorporates sustainable and eco-friendly features, aligning with our commitment to environmental responsibility,” he said.

Once completed, he says the cemetery will be a community pillar. “This new cemetery stands not just as a final resting place, but as a symbol of life's enduring legacy. It reminds us that stories persist, etched not only in stone but in the hearts of those they leave behind.”
