East Coast Road Rehabilitation and Austin Hill Community Road Project Continue This Week

oad works in the east of the country continue this week as the finishing touches are done on the East Coast Highway which adjoins the north to the south.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the scope of works includes rehabilitation of the road surface, clearing of drains, reducing of verges and road markings from the La Resource Junction to the base of the Fond D’or Hill.

Motorists are advised to exercise due caution as expect delays.

The Rehabilitation Project is scheduled to commence placement of the final layer of asphalt wearing course within the rehabilitated section. Delays will be anticipated with a traffic diversion from La Resource to La Caye ending in single-lane traffic along the La Caye Stretch to the base of the Fond D’or Hill. Motorists are urged to exercise caution when traversing the work site and to pay heed to the associated signs and cautionary devices,” the Ministry advised in a press release.

The contractor executing the works is Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd (CIE Ltd), financed by the Saint Lucian Government.

Works also continue on the Austin Hill Community Road project in Dennery. The Ministry informs residents that the road will be closed to traffic as a result of the ongoing works.

Concrete works will commence on the Austin Hill Community Road from Monday, March 18th, 2024. These works will commence from the Trou Marie Junction to the top of the existing concrete pavement in the first instance and from the base of the existing concrete pavement to the Austin Hill Junction subsequently. As a result, the Austin Hill Community Road will be closed to the motoring public at different intervals.”

According to the Pierre Administration, these works form part the ongoing Year of Infrastructure.
