Police Make Arrest in New Year’s Eve Murder

olice have made a significant breakthrough in the New Year’s Eve murder of 30-year-old Shayn Edwin, who succumbed to fatal stab wounds.

Police say another male, a 22-year-old of Hospital Road, Castries has now been charged for that murder.

On Monday, March 18, 2024, Officers attached to the Major Crimes Unit, arrested and subsequently charged 22-year-old Sharz Kerdym Alpha of Hospital Road, Castries for causing the death of Shayn Edwin…Sharz Kerdym Alpha was escorted to the First District Court for the purpose of a bail, where he was remanded into custody,” police say.

Edwin walked into the Saint Lucia Fire Service headquarters that fateful night with serious injuries to his torso, seeking medical assistance.

Prior to this charge, police successfully arrested 26-year-old Marcel Demille who is believed to be part of the group responsible for the attack on New Year’s Eve.

Marcel Demille was subsequently charged for the murder of Shayn Edwin.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, he was taken before the First District Court in Castries for the purpose of bail. He was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
