Saint Lucia Captures Gold Medals at 2024 CARIFTA Games

PORTS: Saint Lucia's Fayth Jeffrey copped the Gold Medal in the Girls 13-14 years category of the 200 Metres Breast Stroke.

She beated other medallists from Martinique. Fayth is Saint Lucia’s first Gold medallist at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships in the Bahamas.

Antoine Destang also emerged as a standout performer, clinching a Gold Medal in the fiercely contested 100m butterfly event, alongside a bronze medal in the demanding 200m freestyle event.

Team Saint Lucia finished 10th out of 27 teams at the Carifta Aquatics 2024, with 9 medals - 3 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze. In his first year at the 15-17 level, Antoine Destang did the butterfly double, and was second overall in his division.

In the field events, Naya Jules set a new CARIFTA record of 2.90m in the Pole Vault. The Gold Medal winner was joined by her colleague in the same event, Alex Johnson who captured bronze with 2.85m. Alex is the daughter of former national Record holder and Sportsman of the year, Dominic Johnson.

The Games were held over the Easter weekend at the Kirani James National Stadium in Grenada.
