One of the highly anticipated activities is the final launching of the Skills758 App, where Saint Lucian youth can showcase their professional training, skills and qualifications in hopes of pairing them up with hopeful employers.
A novel initiative in the OECS, Youth Development Minister Kenson Casimir says the mobile app will assist youth in this increasingly digital age.
“This year in youth month you'll also see the final launch of Skill 758, an app that is geared towards getting all the skills on island at a one -stop shop available to Saint Lucians in search of employees - also in the OECS and of course the rest of the world,” the Minister explained.
Casimir adds that the Ministry will be finalising its National Youth Policy, which will be the guiding document for youth-based initiatives of the government.
“It's a very important youth month for me as Minister, because we are going to finally see some serious progress made on our national youth policy. The youth policy is a very important document that will guide how we develop our young people over the next couple of years, and so we will be having the launch of that youth program,” said the Minister.
Also, the Sports Minister, Casimir promises work on national sports policy which will also inform the government's direction for sports.
“In addition to that, this month we are also looking to ensure that we have a sports policy for Saint Lucia. That is another very huge document that will really guide how we develop our sporting prowess over the next couple of years.”
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has partnered with the National Youth Council, the Youth Economy Agency and other stakeholders to see this year’s youth month be made a success.
