T

he Second Annual Gimies: Tourism Awards of Excellence were held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024.

Tourism Minister Ernest Hilaire implored businesses involved in the sector to participate in the nominating process.

The Minister reminds business owners that the Gimies presents an opportunity for the contributions of workers and employers to be on display.

Hilaire says the nomination process is straightforward once the submitting guidelines are followed.

It is your programme, and all operators are encouraged to participate, to not feel intimidated about the process. It's simple, nominate, include the evidence to back up your submission, and allow the review, auditing, and judging processes,” he explained.

Hilaire urges tourism stakeholders to not be swayed by the event’s detractors and encourages hospitality workers to strive for excellence.

There are those who don't believe all of this is necessary, but look beyond the doubters. I ask everyone to make the Jimmys a beacon to inspire our people, to give their best, to strive for excellence and push the boundaries of what is possible and showcase their talents.”

The Gimies are now part of the Ministry’s year-long calendar of activities, which seeks to honour the contributions of hospitality workers and entrepreneurs.
