"T

he public has built up my courage, making me even a stronger man that I have been,” thanked fire victim Evans Williams.

Evans Williams and his family lost their home and all their possessions in a house fire on May 10th, 2024. The Laborie family returned home that Friday to find the entire structure up in flames.

Family patriarch, Evans Williams, made a fervent appeal to community members and the public at large to assist them in rebuilding their life brought to ashes by the blaze.

Since then, Williams was thrilled to say, the public did heed his call and his family of eight are now in a better position than before.

My family and I are coming out to thank the public, both those who have assisted and continue to assist us and those who have the intention of supporting us. I deeply appreciate every single thing that they did for me and my family.”

Williams says his family has had to adapt to a new way of life following the loss of their home, his focus on the youngest of the family’s members.

I thank God for the strength and faith. It's a tough situation for my grandchildren especially. When they wake up in the morning, they have to prepare themselves for school, and even when they are ready to go to bed, when we have to think about bedtime, we have to be thinking hard - and again the rainy season is on,” he explained.

The family man adds that this experience has given him a new outlook on life.

I don't wish any other person to go through that because it is not an easy task, I can assure you that. What I'm going through is sleepless nights and building up courage from the public,” he said.
