According to local reports, Edghill and other officials met with representatives from InterCaribbean Airways to address travelers' concerns.
“If they don’t fulfill those obligations that they made last week Thursday, we will have to step in and take additional actions or possible sanctions,” Edghill told local Guyanese media. However, the Aviation Minister did not detail what types of sanctions the carrier could face. The assurances from InterCaribbean include better handling in Barbados and additional aircrafts to address the delays.
Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association CEO, Noorani Azeez, also voiced his concerns about the difficulty of regional travel here in the region. Azeez says governments need to look closely at their policies to ensure they encourage travel between Caribbean countries.
