The arrest was made on July 5th, 2024 near midnight. According to a police release, the officers had reason to search the Americans’ vehicle, resulting in the discovery of firearms.
“The officers were conducting a routine patrol, when they observed a suspicious motor vehicle obstructing vehicular traffic. This vehicle was occupied by a female passenger and a male driver. The officers had cause to conduct a search of the motor vehicle,” the police release said.
During the search, one (1) black 9mm Glock 17 pistol which contained a magazine and seventeen (17) rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered.
The occupants of the vehicle have been identified as:
- Katian Camlia Thomas a thirty-five-year-old (35) American female.
- Vicakcy L. Weekes a thirty-seven-year-old (37) American male.
The Magistrate’s Court denied Vikacy Weekes’ bail application. The court granted Katian Thomas bail with the following conditions:
- Possession of Firearm: fifteen thousand dollars (XCD15, 000.00) cash, suitable surety, or land documents.
- Possession of Ammunition: ten thousand dollars (XCD10, 000.00) cash, suitable surety, or land documents.
- Surrender all travel documents and refrain from leaving the country.
On another occasion, on Thursday, July 4th, 2024, the Criminal Investigations Department in Castries, (CID) commenced an investigation into a report of Assault with a Firearm, which occurred in Bisee, Castries, perpetrated by a known male suspect.
During the course of the investigation, investigators obtained a Warrant to Search for Property in the name of sixty-eight-year-old (68) Tyroon Seales also known as “Nya” of Bisee, Castries.
On completion of the search, the officers recovered one (1) pistol. As a result, Tyroon Seales was arrested for Possession of Firearm. He was escorted to the Magistrate’s Court where bail was granted in the sum of 20, 000.00 cash, suitable surety, or land documents.
In another operation, on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, around 6:30am, a coordinated exercise carried out by multiple units of the RSLPF led to the seizure of a significant quantity of cocaine at Praslin Bay.
The operation involved the Drug Unit (DU), Police Marine Unit (PMU), and Special Services Unit (SSU), resulting in the recovery of 1385.6Kgs at Praslin Bay.
