"W

e trust in our relationship with stakeholders, we count on your support, we'll make public transport, cargo transport easier, efficient and safe throughout the Caribbean,” explained LIAT Chief Operations Officer, Kidus Melkamu.

LIAT 2020, a revitalised iteration of the original carrier, is a partnership between Nigerian carrier, Air Peace, and the Antiguan government.

Keeping the original LIAT branding and promising even better quality service, the managers of the airline company vow to put its passengers first.

We are here as a business institute, of course, we'll be making money, we'll be making a profit to sustain, not to make our shareholders rich,” COO Melkamu said.

The Airports Manager at SLASPA, Amy Charles, welcomes LIAT back to Saint Lucia, and noted the carrier’s importance in improving flights into and out of the country.

We welcome this, especially for George Charles Airport, because for a long time it has been very slow, but the business has been building up. We have the other carriers as well, but to have LIAT back, and we have fond memories of them. It means more business for solutions - more connectivity, and more opportunities for persons,” she said.

The inaugural flight arrived in Saint Lucia on August 7th, 2024 and will provide connecting flights in the north to Antigua and to Barbados in the south.

Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Senator Guibion Ferdinand, underscored the oneness of the Caribbean and the opportunities for deeper integration with the return of LIAT.

There are many things in the Caribbean that connect us. Our history, our culture, our music, carnival, and a number of other things that are going on right now,” he said.

With a conservative schedule of three weekly flights, LIAT 2020 aims to establish a strong foundation before expanding its services.
