n Friday, August 23, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister hit the talk show circuit to promote the upcoming Walk for Progress slated for Sunday, 25 August from 2:30.pm

Several Members of Parliament and Labour Party Officials have been promoting the work of the SLP Administration to mark their three years in office. The Walk of Progress is carded as an opportunity of supporters of the Saint Lucia Labour Party and well-wishers of the government to register their support for the work of the administration.

The Political Leader and Prime Minister cited the numerous achievements that his government has produced despite the global challenges that they faced upon assuming Office. Hon. Pierre noted the significant challenges and debt incurred by the former Administration, with over $300 million spent just for COVID-19 relief. He went on to explain the challenges experienced with rising oil prices and skyrocketing of prices of goods due to the Russia-Ukraine War. The Prime Minister contends that despite these challenges, his government has been able to deliver to the people of Saint Lucia with numbers to support his claim.

To date, the Pierre administration has recorded historically low levels of unemployment of 11.6%, the lowest in over 16 years in the first quarter of 2024. In June, signals for a growing economy were supported by data released by the Chamber of Commerce as 77% of businesses recorded higher sales in 2023 than in 2022 in the fourth quarter with 68% of businesses expecting increased profits in 2024.

Prime Minister Pierre noted that the work of his government would continue despite the disruption and undermining by the UWP who he believes is desperate to regain control of the government. However, Pierre noted on his 3-show appearances on Friday that he and his administration are focused on delivering to the people of Saint Lucia.
