Pierre Condemns Political Attacks on His Daughter

Monday, Aug 26

"I

will call [Chastanet] out tonight,” exclaimed Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre while addressing a crowd of supporters following the SLP’s “Walk of Progress” on August 25th.

An August 23rd post made by the United Workers’ Party Facebook page bore the caption: “WAS IT NEPOTISM OR CORRUPTION, AT SAINT LUCIA CIP, THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF THOUSANDS OF FRAUDULENT PASSPORTS?”

The post had a link attached to a website subdomain with an article filled with accusations of financial misconduct by a woman identified as the Prime Minister’s daughter.

These claims, contained in the said article, were written by an author of the name “Kenneth Rijock.”

During his address, a riled Prime Minister Pierre spoke in defense of his daughter, and the families of SLP Cabinet Members who have also been accused of misconduct by the Opposition and its agents.

They are engineering nastiness against us, personal attacks on people, including my daughter. Allen Chastanet is the one behind all this nastiness that's happening in this country,” Pierre said.

Referring to the contents of the accusations against his daughter, Pierre says Opposition Leader Chastanet is in cahoots with Philippe Martinez, who has filed legal proceedings against Saint Lucian CIP officials.

You can attack me, you can attack us, but when you will go and join with people who have no interest in Saint Lucia but interested only in themselves to bring down Saint Lucia, to try to get Saint Lucia to lose his corresponding banking, you do not love this country,” he said.

The Opposition has also launched similar allegations of misconduct against the spouse of a prominent Labour Party official.
