Following the release of results for Caribbean Examinations Council-administered tests, Vieux Fort North MP Baptiste is ensuring his constituents can afford to resit some exams.
CSEC Mathematics and English Language are foundational subjects for students wishing to be employed anywhere in the Caribbean. This year, CXC reported a 36% pass rate for CSEC Maths, while a not-too-impressive 76% of students passed English Language.
In response to this, former educator and Vieux Fort North MP, Moses ‘Musa’ Jn. Baptiste will be covering the costs of both CSEC Maths and English resits for his constituents.
“I want to say to all students from Vieux Fort North, if your results in Mathematics and English were not what you wanted to see or if you did not pass mathematics and English, just come to our office and we are going to organise you - I'm going to pay for you to rewrite these subjects,” he said.
This initiative falls similarly in line with another policy where all students’ CSEC Maths and English fees are covered by the government.
