Investigations Launched Into Senior Police Officer, Commissioner Disclosed

Wednesday, Aug 28

A

senior police officer is currently the subject of a sexual harassment investigation, Police Commissioner Cruscita Descartes-Pelius disclosed on Wednesday, August 28th during a police press conference.

I've initiated a formal investigation into reports made by individuals against a senior officer. And at this time, there's nothing more I'm able to say with regards to these matters. All the necessary support is being afforded to all persons and that the investigations are progressing,” Commissioner Pelius explained.

Numerous appeals made by the Police Welfare Association for an investigation into the allegations have proven successful, as the organisation claims at least three complaints have been made.

For her part, Pelius says she would like to see justice being served to all parties involved in this matter.

Pelius, whose contract ends on August 31st, was the country’s first woman Police Commissioner.

I'm deeply saddened that my tenure has been marred by these serious allegations. However, as promised, and I've said before, I remain resolute in bringing redress to impacted individuals in these matters,” she said.

On Sunday, 25th August, PRO for the United Workers Party disclosed that  that the Regional Security System (RSS) is in Saint Lucia investigating the matter. COP Pelius could not disclose how the Opposition UWP was aware of this information.
