On the evening of June 4, 2025 Director of Consumer Affairs, Wendy Frederick, categorically denied the claims, calling them “patently false and misleading.” She assured citizens that the warehouse remains fully stocked with flour and other essential items, including rice and sugar.
“We wish to assure the public that the government supply warehouse is well stocked with flour and all other essential commodities. There is no shortage, and we are unaware of any bakery closures due to a lack of supply from the government supply warehouse,” Frederick stated.
Her video address included footage of the government’s warehouse with what appeared to be hundreds of sacks of flour. “Scenes are not file footage; filmed today at the Government Supply Warehouse,” read the caption of the video address posted to the Ministry of Commerce’s Facebook page.
Frederick emphasised that deliveries are continuing as scheduled and that the Ministry continues to monitor inventory levels closely to ensure consistent supply.
“We take these types of public allegations seriously and we want to remind the public to seek verified updates through official channels,” she added. “Spreading false claims may cause unnecessary panic and undermine public confidence in systems that are functioning effectively.”
Frederick reiterated the Ministry’s confidence in its logistical systems and affirmed that there are “no low stock levels” at the warehouse.
