Tribe of Twel Dominates Lucian Carnival 2025 Parade of the Bands

ucian Carnival 2025 climaxed in a dazzling display of colour, music, and cultural expression with the highly anticipated J’Ouvert and Parade of the Bands held on Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22.

Revelers took to the streets to celebrate one of the island’s most cherished cultural events, with a total of ten bands competing in the National Parade of the Bands and seven in this year’s J’Ouvert Parade.

During a live press briefing at Bay Gardens Hotel on Wednesday, July 23, the Carnival Planning and Management Committee officially announced the results of the two-day spectacle.

In the J’Ouvert Parade, Back In Time Inc. emerged victorious with its portrayal “St. Lucia Carnival: A Place for All,” scoring 409 points. They were followed by Come To Me Tyre Shop with “Democracy Jam” at 299 points, and J’ouvert Jammers with “Ole Mas: The Legacy Continues” close behind at 298 points.

The coveted Road March title went to Dezral with his popular hit “The Car,” which received the most plays on the road: a total of 28. He was followed by Ricky T & HP with “Freak Out” at 17 plays, and Carlto with “I Cry” at 14.

In the Parade of the Bands, Tribe of Twel swept the competition with their portrayal “Bel Wad Ek Soulye,” taking home several of the event's top titles. The band was crowned Parade Band of the Year with 436 points, outperforming Xuvo Carnival (Isle of Angels, 423 points), Just 4 Fun (Mas, 392 points), and Legends Carnival Band (X Year of Bacchanal, 387 points).

Tribe of Twel also claimed victories in:

Best Designed Band (133 points)
Best Portrayal of Theme (tied with Xuvo at 131 points)
Individual of the Year (Jordan Augier for “Unto Us a Child was Born”, scoring 444 points)
Second and Fourth places in Individual of the Year (Sharon Tanner and Safiya Paul, respectively)

In the fiercely contested Mas on the Move category, Xuvo Carnival’s Isle of Angels edged ahead with 80 points, just one point ahead of Island Tribe’s Cyborg. Section of the Year saw a tie between Xuvo Carnival (Angele – The Ghost of Mas Past) and Just 4 Fun (Rapture), both earning 79 points.

The Spirit of Carnival award went to Just 4 Fun for Mas, while Fuzion’s Pixels and Legends’ X Year of Bacchanal rounded out the top four.

In the Ole Mas competition, known for its satirical and political portrayals, Kennedy “Boots” Samuel took the top spot with “Pee I Pee,” followed by Linus Joseph’s “C.I. Pee Money for Investing.”

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee also announced that Lucian Carnival 2026 will run from July 1 to 22, promising an even bigger celebration of Saint Lucian culture.
