s the new academic year approaches, the Ministry of Education has launched a series of targeted summer workshops designed to strengthen teacher preparedness and enhance classroom delivery across the island.

Led by the Curriculum and Materials Development Unit (CAMDU), the workshops aim to improve instructional planning, introduce innovative e-resources, and ensure consistent curriculum delivery nationwide.

Curriculum Officer for Theatre Arts, Miss Kentillia Louis, explained that one of the key innovations introduced this summer is a specially designed e-book, developed with input from teachers themselves.

Teachers helped to put this together, so they, of course, know what kind of material they need. In this e-book, we have provided sources of different types of information, be it links to videos, quizzes, and end-of-unit exams, so that all the teachers are exposed to the same material and therefore the students are exposed to the same material,” she explained.

The goal, she noted, is to promote standardisation in content delivery while also supporting differentiated instruction. The e-book’s flexible format allows educators to adapt lessons to suit the varying needs of their students.

It really gives a personalised approach to each student's learning. Whether you’re dealing with visual learners or students who thrive on interactivity, there’s something there that each type of learner can use.”

Valencia Fletcher, Curriculum Officer for Health and Family Life Education (HFLE), also welcomed the training, particularly for its emphasis on life skills and digital learning tools.

This is really going to help our teachers, whether they’re teaching HFLE or not, because HFLE is life skills-based,” Fletcher said. “With the digital content, we are more able to get them focused on acquiring those life skills.”

Fletcher reported a strong turnout for the sessions held in the south of the island, with enthusiastic participation from educators eager to integrate the new materials into their teaching strategies.
