The renewed strategy emphasizes cross-border cooperation as essential to safeguarding public health, community stability, and regional prosperity.
Attorney General Hon. Leslie Mondesir underscored the urgency of a united approach, stating, “No state, no matter how resilient, can face the scourge alone. In facing this challenge, collaboration is paramount. Together we will send a strong and united message to drug traffickers and their criminal networks: operations will find no refuge, no safe haven, and no comfort in the spaces between our jurisdictions.”
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre highlighted recent initiatives to strengthen law enforcement capabilities. He noted that canine units, including the recently donated K9, have been pivotal in operational support, and additional canine donations from French partners are anticipated.
“We must strengthen our resolve to use all legal methods to rid our countries of criminal elements that threaten our security and peace. This must be stopped,” he said.
Pierre also stressed the importance of integrity in law enforcement, emphasizing that “there is no room for corruption or dishonesty among our officers. Humans will always be the final arbiter in any action, which is why men and women of the highest caliber and integrity are essential to these operations.”
The collaboration between Saint Lucia and Martinique forms part of a broader effort to maintain the region as a zone of peace, ensuring safety, tranquility, and economic opportunity for residents across the Caribbean.
